An attractive and successful doctor places a personal ad in a newspaper to try to meet (and eventually marry) Mr. Right. A succession of blind dates ensues, featuring men who are lonely, desperate, dangerous and perverted.

Jointly and respectively directed by King Hu, Lee Hsing, and Pai Ching-Jui, three major Taiwan directors of the 1970s, this film consist of three shorts with the same cast of two actors and one actress, who through reincarnation meet in three different times.

Ginny is a beautiful but very brittle singing star who agrees to be the face of a new hotel and a new drink. But she is tortured by the suicide of her lover the previous year. Soon, Ginny is found dead, hanging in her bathroom. The company directors panic and try to cover up. But Ginny's ghost obligingly reappears, and directs a junior staff member to a house in the country where a lookalike replacement can be found. Now, if they can only figure out a way of feeding Ginny's ashes to the double, they'll have her under their control....

A multi-lingual tour guide who owns multiple passports one day drives his wife and daughter to a desolate seashore town and checks in a secluded, spacious, ruins-like hotel. From that moment on, he throws himself into gambling, tossing the dice with local residents all day. Sometimes he wins big, but sometimes he loses all. Feeling neglected and uncomfortable, his wife and daughter soon leave him and return home. He stays and wanders in this fishing village and gradually immerses himself in the surroundings—a place rife with immoral vagabonds, outlaws and weirdoes.

A farming village is undergoing change. Some of the young people want to live in the city, while others stay behind and try to help the older residents adjust to a new scheme of growing flowers to sell at market instead of rice.
